So California May 2008 Day in the Park : In Southern California, on May 18,2008, a group of 28 Amigos met for a “Sunday in the Park” organized by Mary Mohr. They started with a club mercado in the Park followed by a no-host picnic where everyone brought their own food. Later they had a guided tour of the Workman House, an 1870s picturesque country home constructed around an 1840s adobe; part of a six-acre site dating from the era when California was still part of Mexico. The Homestead Museum, with its historical significance, park-like landscaping, meticulous restoration and educational programs, make it one of California’s true historic treasures. The Museum complex also includes a Spanish Colonial Revival Mansion, La Casa Nueva, full of old tile and furniture of the 1920s and one of the regions oldest private cemeteries, El Campo Santo.
